In previous posts, I have mentioned the 'Sand Letters' that we are making to help the children learn different letter names, sounds and formations. These are great because they provide a multi-sensory approach to reading and writing letters, since the children are able to see, as well as feel them. Young children learn most effectively when they are using many senses. Each week we make the letters that we are learning in our 'Star Name'. As the children create and practise tracing the letters, they are internalizing it's shape and developing their motor skills.
