Suddenly I heard a big crash. BANG! And I ran to mum. “The storm is here she said”, as she hugged me, “that is the sound of thunder. The next thing I knew I heard a ‘pitter, patter, pitter, patter’ that got louder, faster and stronger as we kept listening. “There’s the rain”, mum said. The sky was getting darker and darker like night. All of a sudden BANG! There was a bright flash of light and then a huge crash! Now there was thunder and lightning! Pitter, patter, pitter, patter . . . the rain continued.
As mum and I sat in the cave watching and listening to the storm, it felt like it would last forever. Soon though, the pitter, patter of the rain got softer and slower. The clouds began to move away and the sky became light again and looked like day. “Look!” mum said, pointing up into the sky. I looked up and saw the most beautiful group of colours I had ever seen. Read, orange, yellow, green, blue, and 2 really special colours called indigo and violet. I counted the colours – 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5, 6 & 7. “After a storm, there is always a rainbow”, mum said. Soon the sky started to disappear into the blue sky. I turned to mum and said, “I can’t wait for the next storm."
